The Failure: Indian Education System

It's everyday bro! |
Hello lovely people of the Internet! Welcome to another post on the e-Magazine for millennial by millennial, my name is Vertika and I am from...INDIA! Yes the “beautiful” , “colourful”, “land of spices” , “diversity” , “festivals”, “beautiful buildings”...and broken and crushed dreams, student suicides , mental health issues, excessive parental pressure , and , I quote my teacher, “An obsolete education system that revels in its 'glory' of producing same stock of people every year” and...well,I must halt because shh even in a “democracy” I can’t speak about it unless I wanna get into jail or probably die or ...shhh and while the introductory picture was nasty, trust me, it's gonna get worse. Much worse.

Idealism. |
about all of this, but for today lets stick to our wonderful or not so much , topic , “indian education system”. Well what should I say about this, except for if this thing was a person, I’d punch it’s face in or worse. Why ? Because it’s responsible for so many deaths and so many crushed dreams.
Quoting Albert Einstein , “Everyone is a
genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a
tree it will live its whole life believing it’s stupid.” Now a
system , who forces everyone to learn e =m*c^2 ,
cannot understand this simple sentence. Thing is, that
knowledge cannot be forced upon someone. And our
education system does just that , in order to make
someone aware they must either enjoy it or know why exactly they need to know and why it is an interesting thing.

2018 everyone!! We finally have 4K colour in our life!! |
themselves learning things , not out of passion or interest or to gain knowledge but to get into IIT or AIIMS or any other college. And why do they want to do that? To earn money. Whats wrong with that? The fact that it kills the beauty of education and of knowing stuff. But that’s not all that it kills, it kills students. You may say that suicide is the coward’s way out but unless
you feel what they felt you cannot at all blame them.
The so-called ‘psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill herself doesn’t do so out of quote ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling. Our education system does it's best to ensure that the terror is deep set in the heart of the young one!

India's pride! |
depressed, hopeless. WHY?
Some reasons that I think are-
- Extreme pressure from Parents, Teachers and everyone else in between, including your distant aunt's pet poodle.
- Lack of passion for their subjects.
- The quality of the education is bound to make anyone academically depraved.
The aforementioned reasons might seem simple but can push teenagers towards death. People might blame them for being too sensitive but when we come to think of it, people who the government doesn't even recognize as adults , put under so much pressure : is it alright? No. They are told by their parents and other adults to not take so much pressure and leave it and let it be.

Right to life? Not Granted. |
But for someone who aims big who wants to follow their
passion , not caring what it gives them , who want to do so much, it’s crushing. And what’s even worse that they are told that they are stupid fools who will have a dark future. Why? Because they chose to speak up against stuff. They push them, under pressure, make them give
up all their hobbies, ruin their mental health until they give up. Many don’t. Many do. Both categories being equally brave and capable.
To conclude I won’t say “Don't push your kids to be doctors and engineers!” It’s been said far too many times by far too many people but still the situation stays the same. (Absolutely zero hate towards docs or engineers. I am well aware many of them weren't forced too) . I’d just leave you all with a line quoted from a video close to my heart , “so much about
science, yet not a single Nobel prize since independence” are they really gaining knowledge and achieving their best?
So I close this post with tears in my eyes and with some hope in my heart.
Peace ☮️
